Deprecated Zone

The layer below District 5's operational tunnels where the architecture changes. Clean modular construction gives way to older, rougher corridors with hand-finished surfaces, irregular widths, and lighting fixtures not found anywhere else in the city.

The Deprecated Zone is where the pre-built tunnels originate: corridors that predate the city's known construction history. Structural engineers among the player base have determined that the ventilation system below this level is designed for a space approximately eight to ten times larger than the known tunnel network above.

The Beacon does not acknowledge the Deprecated Zone in any official documentation. Access from the operational layer is possible but unmarked. Players who have explored it describe the experience of the air and acoustics as distinctly different from the tunnels above.
