Thieyla, the Free Wind
I have made my sacrifice. I have earned my freedom. I will not clip my wings for you, or anyone else, ever again.Thieyla, the Stoicheion goddess of elemental air, is one of the innate elemental forces of the cosmos. As daughter of the Lady of Night and the Lord of Light, she is one of the Stoicheion Children.
This ancient being has been known by many names throughout the ages. Among seafarers, Thieyla is typically invoked as Aerakina, the Steady Way, in hopes of bringing about strong but calm winds for safe and sure travel. In desperate times, she may be invoked as Zefrakina, the Blade Gale, to bring about powerful winds for a variety of purposes - but those who seek Zefrakina's face should be prepared to withstand, or hopefully outrun, the hurricane winds that answer Thieyla's call. Sects which worship only the elemental powers of the Stoicheion, rather than their aspects or actions, know her only as Mihi.
Still others who know the history of Achoti Mache - War of the Sisters revere Thieyla for her perceptive nature and actions which, according these believes, saved all creation. It was Thieyla that first realized the danger that the Sisters' warring posed - not only to the world, but also to Mikrios, the Soul Dreamer, the youngest of the Stoicheion Children and the Sisters' beloved brother. From her vantage point above the battlefield, Thieyla witnessed the elemar bending and breaking with each blow the Children landed upon on one another. Thieyla immediately threw down her weapons and warned Nimrilye, The Earth Shaper, of the threat. Together, Thieyla and Nimrilye separated Adriel, The Eternal Flame, and Kyma, the Boundless Deluge, though Adriel gravely wounded Thieyla in the process.
Thieyla, along with most the Stoicheion gods, was cut off from the material plane by the Divine Aegis - a powerful barrier created by the Stoicheion gods of fire, earth, air, and water to protect and preserve Mikrios and the The Lady of Night following the War of the Sisters and the near destruction of the material plane. Even so, elemental energy can still leak through the Divine Aegis at times, but only in smaller amounts. Thus, the raw power of the Children is prevented from entering Cistalmire.
Sealed behind the Divine Aegis, Thieyla is generally content to leave the material plane to its own devices, but has been known to provide assistance, generally in the form of winged messengers or wind shifts, from time to time. As with all the Children, Thieyla is able to peer into the material realm, when it suits her need, through her element. Thieyla can see anywhere the wind touches, but where the wind howls loudest, there Thieyla sees clearest.
Thieyla is served by her Valakos; Cerulea, the Sword of Air, Empearal, the Shield of Air, and Avis, the Voice of Air.
