Kyma, the Boundless Deluge
Beware the bounty of the deep, for that which I may grant to you... I may later choose to keep.Kyma, the Stoicheion goddess of elemental water, is one of the innate elemental forces of the cosmos. As daughter of the Lady of Night and the Lord of Light, she is one of the Stoicheion Children. This ancient being has been known by many names throughout the ages. She is often revered by fishermen and those who make their lives on the sea, commonly referred to as the "Lady of Fathoms." However, it is not uncommon to hear sailors and the like cast a prayer to Kyma for calm waters in one breath, and Thieyla, the Free Wind for steady winds in another. Even so, of all the Stoicheion gods, it is Kyma who holds the most sway over seafarers, for they know how easily it is for the Lady of Fathoms to shift into her visage from Achoti Mache - War of the Sisters where the seas threatened to drown all of Cistalmire. Sects which worship only the elemental powers of the Stoicheion, rather than their aspects or actions, know her only as Apah. Knowledge and worship of Kyma is common. In more recent times, the Tear of Kyma, the goddesses' most common symbol, can be founds in various lands. Kyma, along with most the Stoicheion gods, was cut off from the material plane by the Divine Aegis - a powerful barrier created by the Stoicheion gods of fire, earth, air, and water to protect and preserve Mikrios, the Soul Dreamer and the Lady of Night following the War of the Sisters and the near destruction of Cistalmire. Even so, elemental energy can still leak through the Divine Aegis at times, but only in smaller amounts. Thus, the raw power of the Children is prevented from entering the material plane. Though sealed behind the Divine Aegis, Kyma works from the Plane of Water to safeguard her watery domain and her creations that still call Cistalmire home. More importantly, the Divine Aegis does not block the Kyma's ability to peer into the material realm, should she choose, through liquid water present on the other side of the Divine Aegis, whether that water be the wide waves of Cistalmire's many seas, or the quenching drink in an adventurer's canteen. Kyma occasionally sends her divine messengers, the Aqui, to perform her will. She is also served by her Valakos; Caldae, the Sword of Water, Azuris, the Shield of Water, and Alluenda, the Voice of Water the Voice of Water.
