Nathigen
Nathigen are interesting creatures in the world of Cirke. Interesting as they are one of the few recognized 'half-ling' species, most offspring of humans and creatures are written off as abominations, especially those favoring their creature/spirit parentage.
Nathigen, however, are typically leaning toward human, and even if they are not, their sapience lends them some usefulness in the general society, but they are seen as lesser beings the majority of the time.
Odd, considering they are stronger than the base human.
Elementals exist in four look types- air, fire, water and earth, but there are many off-branches and more specific magics to Nathigen, so just about every type exist.
They say that the first Nathigen was born of an earth elemental and her human lover. The elemental woman loved her child and brought it to the lover, but he was scared. Such a thing had never existed before, and so he spurned them. The woman left, and spent her days raising her child as her own, but she was different, she had a different way of experiencing the world, and eventually left her mother's side to explore the human world. Her form was mostly human anyway, and there were things about herself she could only learn among humans. As she traveled the world, she made a name for herself as an oddity, a beautiful unique thing in the world, and gave so many people ideas...
The Nathigen species took off, branching out in so many ways and so quickly, it was as if they'd always existed.
Now Nathigen are not as well-populated as regular humans, but they have spread the world-over.
Basic Information
Anatomy
There are several different types of Nathigen, but here are the most basic aspects...
They have the typical form of a human most commonly, and even if they don't they almost always still have two arms and two legs in a basic bipedal arrangement.
Earth
Earth Nathigen usually have brown skin and hair, with green or black eyes. Their skin is leathery or like that of a plant. Some even sprout and change color; their own microecosystem. Come in a vast variety of shapes and sizes.
Fire
Typically sport blackened skin or that of red pigment. If they have eyes, they're typically white or blue. Those especially leaning toward their elemental heritage may have insides made completely of lava or flames, their hair much the same. There are even some companies in the world that boast making clothes so durable Fire Nathigen can use them.
Water
Water Nathigen are probably the easiest to pass as a 'human'. Their skin tone is typical of the human parent, hair ranging from black to blue to white. Can also emerge with a sort of slime power if there is a llittle Earth blood in the line. Very useful people to have around when traveling as they can manipulate water in many ways, but they can also dry out.
Air
Sometimes, it would be impossible to know if an air nathigen is even in existence. Some of these element can make themselves completely invisible. Typically floating around, these Nathigen are also one of the most proud of their own existence. Spend a lot of time in cliffside communities and mountaintops, where they can access a large drop.
Genetics and Reproduction
Normal human reproduction typically. If Elemental blood is more than 75%, can lean more toward Elemental, which would mean a much shorter pregnancy, where they will have to take the humanoid form more often than not the closer they get to birth.
Ecology and Habitats
Nathigen have the tendencies of both species. Elementals stay where their native element resides (Ice stays in the artics, for example.) Humanity on the other hand, likes to travel and explore. So Nathigen wander, looking for a place they fit in and like, as well as have access to their element.
You most likely won't find many water elementals in the desert.

Nathigen originated as a mixture between an Earth Elemental and a Human.
