Maerin
A small town north of Karn's Nest.
It houses about 235 people, an inn called The Lazy Goose, a shop selling mountaineering equipment, some food stands, a flower stand owned by a half-elf named Astra and the locally famous Grey Stone Brewery.
Astra and the Flower stand
Astra moved to Maerin from Vermillion, the old mining village up the mountains, as a child. His mother had begun getting nightmares of great impending dread after the mine collapse, and so they fled.
Lukas and The Lazy Goose
Lukas Grosvenor lost his wife in the mine collapse in Vermillion. Facing too much sorrow in the village, he moved away right after the funeral, using their family savings to buy the local inn. Much as he would like to go back and visit the grave, he dares not.

The brewery was established in -234 ED.
They current produce three beers:
- Their Whitestone Flowered beer, using both white flowers growing on the lower reaches of The Northern Ridge, as well as the stones they grow on. The beer is very light, almost the colour of champagne, but much less transparent. The beer has a summerly taste and goes well with fish and salad.
- The Gemstock No3, third edition of a beer brewed with high quality gemstones in the cask. Whether any taste actually comes from the gemstones is unclear, but it has made the beer a popular choice amongst finer citizens. The taste is good in its own right, closer to the beer you find elsewhere, but of very high quality.
- The 1289, a beer both daring in name and taste. Made from a rare mineral crystal formation, causing a deep stoney taste it challenges common perceptions of beer. Having many of the qualities of dark beer, it is still light in colour and as sparkly as they come. The beer is named after the brewery's founding year by the old Dawnspeaker calendar, and is the breweries original beer. They boast with the recipe having been unchanged for 282 years.
Demographics
Mostly human, but also a fair number of half-elves originally from the other side of the mountains, as well as a few dwarves.
