Tiefling
The Tieflings are another refugee race from Old Cadrith, alongside many others. Characterised by their infernal otherworldly appearance and mastery of flame, Tieflings are an uncommon but welcome sight across the realm.
Basic Information
Biological Traits
The infernal heritage of Tieflings is evident on first seeing - humanoids with tails, horns, and sharp fangs, and exotic colours. Aside from that, they share the same general height and weight as humans, the same age, and generally all features, save for their hellish appearance and natural resistance to flame and magical influence. Tieflings share humans' fertility, though many choose abstinence, and are less fond of the Winters that wrack New Cadrith, though they are not as fatal to Teiflings as they are to the elves.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Tieflings are often reserved and withdrawn, and Tiefling families keep themselves to themselves - even if a Tiefling leaves the social bubble of their family in search of adventure or just getting out of the shadow of their family, they are often still slow to acclimatise socially to their neighbours. However, a Tiefling's trust, while hard earned, is a precious thing indeed.
Facial characteristics
A Tiefling's face is one of their most strongly different features compared to the other Cadrithic races - sharp teeth and horns, ranging from ram's horns to antelope horns and anything in between, jut from the Tiefling's face, and the eyes are a solid opaque colour, with no pupil or sclera. Similarly to this discolouration, Tieflings have a wide range of skin tones, from more traditional human tones to otherworldly blues, reds, and purples, and even jet black. Hair is likewise unusual, though often dark colours.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Tieflings are widespread, if uncommon, but are most commonly found in Great Cities, or in their own isolated communities in the wilderness where they can express their magic more freely. However, due to a general dislike of the cold north-east, most Tieflings find their ways into the Core Provinces to ride out Winter.
Civilization and Culture
Culture and Cultural Heritage
Tieflings are typically followers of the Cadrithic Pantheon, following a mix of Gods from either Quintarchy - favoured ones include Allendda, God of Natural Order, Reyn, God of Natural Change, Pys, God of the Sun and Lyrich, God of Plots.
Faith in The Tsaedo is less common in Tieflings than in humans or other humanoids, out of fear of contacting their infernal ancestors, replaced with a good deal of Tieflings following the creed of Finality. Many Tieflings go further still, and more closely embrace their demonic heritage, but these are an extreme minority.

History
It is unknown when or how the first Tieflings came into being, but Tieflings were present in the migration from Old Cadrith to their new homeland. While many Tieflings in particular would have preferred to go on travelling instead of settle in the cold of New Cadrith, most settled down in their new lands. The Tiefling's innate magical connection proved a great help in the establishment of Firsland and later on Mage's Isle, and many Tiefling families send their magical adept students to Mage's Isle to this day.
Some Tieflings are sprung out of devilish pacts with unknown powers, but most Tieflings are long descendants of their Old Cadrith ancestors.
