Timetraveler

As vague as being a timetraveler can be, the profession has become a more steady part of many people's CVs, especially if they wish to work for The World Magic Organization - WMO and rise in the ranks. The Most influential people who sit in the WMO have background in timetraveling and it is still regarded as an important part of arcane studies and a good skill to possess.

Career

Qualifications

One needs at least some kind of education, either in purely arcane (as was always the way in the old times before the technology advanced) or in arcanomechnanical sense. Official qualifications can be gotten, after proper passed test and such, from the national institutions and a handful of  other World Magic Organization - WMO affiliated places. Easiest way to become a timetraveler is to join a local WMO branch and after the initial orientation period and apply for a trainee status in timetravel department. This way is the only official way to get the needed  qualifications to work in organization like WMO.
The way the timetraveling used to be done was to live and learn, the living part being the most difficult one. Certain magic items and spells can be used for timetraveling, although time travel outside the WMO sanctioned one is basically banned. Some still do it, though, and they risk their lives and the stability of the universe for their own reasons; be it money, fame, or just plain boost of adrenaline. Those who wish to travel without official approval could also be sentenced for life in prison, if they are caught, of course. Timetraveling gigs just usually happen to pay handsomely...

Career Progression

Mainly, the career progress of a timetraveler can be divided in two sectors; public and private, meaning the official World Magic Organization - WMO sanctioned use of timetraveling, which is also regulated and licensed so it can be as safe for everyone involved, or the rogue timetraveling, often done in the grey areas of the law and for illicit purposes, without the knowledge of the overseeing organisation of any kind, so it can get very dangerous and is frowned upon by the WMO.

Payment & Reimbursement

The 'approved' timetravelers are paid quite nicely, a little over the median income. The payment for the ones who travel without being sanctioned to do so, is much better than that on the 'public sector' as the risks for being caught are high, but so is demand for such gigs...

Other Benefits

In old times time travelers were both revered and feared, sometimes even pitied when the Time Sickness eventually took hold of an old timetraveler. Nowadays it is still a little bit of a niche, but revered profession. Not everyone can timetravel, anyway, but they do important job on either keeping the balance of the universe, or trying to shake  the old status quo. It solely depends on who you ask.
