Arcturia
Not only an ancient forgeworld but also the centre of all Adeptus Mechanicus operations in this sector, Arcturia is of great importance for both military and industrial purposes. The planet consist of heavily polluted wastelands, which are overgrown by a cancerous network of forges and hive cities. Around Arcturia's equator exist 12 gigantic forge temples, called Dens, each one under the control of one senior Archmagi. Seven of those venerated Dens have orbital counterparts, held in place high over the surface by gravitic anchors and inertial engines.
Geography
An once arid world, but after millennia of heavy industrialisation and continent-scale excavation efforts Arcturia turned into a toxic and dead wasteland. The former oceans evaporated and are now nothing more than toxic seas of industrial sludge. Most natural surface features were altered or even completely erased, leaving countless abandoned open-pit mines and mountainous refuse hills.
Ecosystem Cycles
Arcturia's natural climate has been mostly erased and with that it's natural former seasons. The planets new 'seasons' are now dictated by the tides and consistency of the industrial exhaust emanating from the Dens.
Fauna & Flora
Only the most robust extremophile organisms can exist on this forge world. Apart from microbes and algae nothing is able to endure the conditions in this environment on its own. Although not a part of the natural fauna, multiple herds of feral servitors exist on the surface and although they are frequently hunted by Pteraxii, their augmentations often allow them to evade their pursuers.
