Nexurium

Nexurium is the energy that governs the use of magic. It is omnipresent in Hysal, being in nearly all elements in one form or another and in all magic users. Nexus, or The nexus is the name given to the human reserve of magical energy that is located inside someone's body and attached to the soul of the person.

Manifestation

The effects of Nexurium are widespread and can take varied forms in magic.

Elemental Magic

In elemental magic, it not only allows for the manipulation and control of some elements, but it also allows the creation of certain elements using itself, making it possible to create fire and light from what seems like thin air, but it would be by using their own internal Nexurium reserve of by syphoning Nexurium from a nearby source, such as heat or light.

Soulbound Magic

Soulbound Magic also uses Nexurium to perform magic, however they do not use it the same way or from the same source. In fact, Soulmages, unlike their elemental counterpart, do not create or manipulate the natural elements of Hysal, but rather their own, or another's Soul and body. To do this requires huge amounts of nexurium and the physical world, as well as their own body, simply do not posses enough. This is where their connection to The Ether is critical, not only to them performing their abilities, but also to power them.

All soulmages can see Nexurium be manipulated. It is not known exactly why that is, but some scholars suggest that i could be because Soulmages have a higher sensitivity to nexurium itself. Scattered reports also exist of nexusmages also being able to see Nexurium as it is manipulated, and while these reports are fragmentary, it would further confirm the theory listed above.

Nexurium sources and control

Nexurium can be found from three sources in the physical realm. These are: Certain Elements, such as Light, Fire, Air and Water; In the souls of both types of mages and in the form of Energised Lycen crystals Nexurium can also be found in vast amounts in The Ether. In fact, it is widely considered that the Etherial plane may contain an infinite amount of Nexurium that can be tapped into by Soulmages. Nexurium usage by elemental and Soulbound mages can also be controlled using Talismans, which are items crafted following the strict rules of Talismalurgy A science that is used to regulate the use of Nexurium.
