Honey Crispels

This delicious dish is an extremely popular street snack, which can be found throughout Arros and parts of Enaskia, where it is sold as a quick, cheap and tasty street food!

Manufacturing process

Step one: Doughing

Take some flour, add butter and an egg, a few spoon of water and a pinch of salt. Mix the melange thoroughly and then, using a roler, flatten the dough into a thin sheet.

Step two: Frying

Use a bowl, saucer or mug to cut out round pieces of dough. Put those pieces in a pan full of noiling oil to fry. Wait until both sides are lightly golden to take out. Suspend on hooks or place onto a grill to let excess out drip out.

Step three: Glazing

Dip a basting brush in a pot of warm or hot honey and baste/glaze both sides of the warm crispels and serve as is. And voila! Bon Appétit!

-Flour (Wheat/Barley/Rye)

History

A recipee for Honey Crispels was first written down more than 1000 years ago, by the personal chef of the Governor of the province of Syracsa, a region of the now dead Carathengian Empire.   There is some debate regarding if this chef invented the dish, or if he was simply the one to write down its recipee for the first time, but whatever the case may be, that is when the dish quickly gained popularity with the local populace.   In just a few years, it was being consumed throughout the Carathengian empire, from Vrahlis to Paliso, and then even beyond, in Naurcia, in the Heorian Kingdoms, in Lauralia, and elsewere in Arros.   Inside the Carathengian empire, it was known as a syracsi sweet, and it is still called this way in the regions formaly governed by them, whereas Honey Crispels is the common name for the dish everywere else.   In more recent years, other versions of the dish have become quite popular, such as the maple Crispel, which uses maple syrup instead of Honey for the glaze. Some versions, prepared for richer folks, also include vanilla or saffron in the dough, to give it a more exclusive taste.

These must be delicious, especially if you combine them with some nuts! I am guessing you need to use melted butter to make the dough right?

I think you're supposed to use warm, but not melted butter.
