A Hero's Monument
Near the City of Hersa, in the Arrosian kingdom of Alvaros, stands a tall monument, erected at the site of the last battle waged by a fallen hero and dedicated to his memory. This hero was Eremir the great.
Purpose / Function
The purpose of the monument is to commemorate the life and sacrifice of Eremir the great and the tens of thousands of warriors who followed him to war against The Blight and the The Rekyans , keeping them at bay and saving the continent from a far darker fate.
Alterations
A few decades after the monument's construction, Lycanite crystals, crushed into a powder, where added to the monument. Specificaly, a small dusting of powder was spread inside the negative spaces of the monument's engravings, both on the obelisk, and the two boulders. This made it so that now, when a Elemental Mage or Soulbound Mage steps close enough to the monument, the inscriptions will begin to glow slighly. The effect can be seen during daytime, but it is much more pronouced and beautiful at night
Architecture
The monument is composed of three parts. In the middle of a large polished granite slab raised about half a metre from the ground, stands a tall and slender obelisk, made of grey stone, which was fuzed and shaped by Stonemages. The obelisk stands at around 50 metres tall, dominating the surounding forest.
On either side of the obelisk, but still on the raised granite platform, are two large boulders. The front-facing side of both boulders were flattened to allow for inscriptions to be engraved onto them. The names of hundreds of fallen soldiers, mages and human alike, who bravely stood by Eremir in his quest to save the continent, are carved onto the left boulder. On the right boulder, the names of the locations where Eremir fought and protected against the rekyans are listed in chronological order, with the City of Hersa of course being the last name listed.
Finaly, a message was also carved into the obelisk itself. In fact, each of the 4 faces contains the same message, copied in 4 different languages: Esnian, Kavasian, Rumalian and Naurcian. The message reads:
Here lies a Hero. Halin's most valliant and fearless warrior. He who gave humanity hope in its darkest days and who led it to victory against death itself. May this monument forever honour the memory of Eremir Cisval, the greatest protector of Arros, and may his soul ascend to the stary halls and rest in eternal peace.
History
The monument was built in the year 7 ac, to honour Eremir's legacy. It was commisioned 1 year before by the leaders of the nearby City of Hersa, and news of it spread to most of the continent in a few months. Despite most countries being battered and poor at the time, many foreign kings and princes offered money and workers to aid in the construction, even from as far as Darnia and Tomboraan. The chosen location for the monument was the spot where Eremir sacrificed himself to protect the city, killing the last Rekyan on the continent in the process.
Tourism
Many pilgrims who are going to the Suriat of Remembrance, located in the Alvars mountains, make a quick stop here. But its not just pilgrims from far-away lands that visit the monument, but also residents of nearby cities and villages who also travel to Hersa simply to visit the monument. Many describe the visit as humbling and inspiring.

Is Eremir getting his own article soon? I'd love to learn more about such an important hero :) I liked a lot the part about the alterations; it must look stunning when a mage approaches the monument. I wonder though, was this added as an alarm of sorts or as a form of respect?
