Dragonsrest
Dragonsrest is a nomadic city-state located in a narrow valley south of the Tatúm Mountains in the Forbidding Desert. It has a population of 876,920 and is rumored to be one of the last safe havens of the Dagor (Dragon) race. The city-state has been ruled by House Takahashi since it was repopulated by Man in the Late Elven Age.
History
Dragonsrest has a long and colorful history. Formerly, Dragonsrest was a Dagor stronghold called Dragoral. Rumor is that after the Rise of the Elven Empire on Arren, the Dagor sought refuge in Dragoral for some time. However, they didn’t stay for long before abandoning Dragoral. No one really knows why the Dagor abandoned the city, from what little historical document that have survived, the city was never attacked or sieged. The Dagor just up and left. The City sat uninhabited for many centuries before it was rediscovered by Man, and more specifically, the first royal family who made the city their capital. Its original name was lost beyond recovery. With the obvious Dragon design of many of the structures, and fact it may have a last haven for them, the Nomads named their new capital ‘Dragonsrest’.
Dragonsrest thrived for a couple centuries as the capital of the whole Nomadic Kingdom. However, shortly into the First Age of Man, violent conflicts over land and power lead to the fall of the royal family with each city, town and outpost declaring their own independence. During one of these conflicts, which took place in Dragonsrest, opened the door for the Takahashi Family to rise to power; and rise they did. Though the Takahashi family did briefly lose control of Dragonsrest after the Dragtonian Invasion of 1A-1090 (Known by Nomads as the War of the Dancers). They later retook the rule of the City when Dragtonian forces were recalled to assist in the fight against the Iiauskana Kingdom during the Second Elven War.
During the time of Katina Tront the First, wife of the late Lord Regent, Haku Takahashi, Dragonsrest was directly involved in the War of the Dragon Throne (circa. 2A-320 – 337). During this time, Dragonsrest became a haven for an assortment of undead, vampires, and necromancers, all under the command of Katina and her vampiric general, Mount Vhokken. After Katina’s death, Dragonsrest was returned to the Living under ‘Acting’ Lord Regent, Albert Tront the Third. When Albert III left to assume the mantle of High King in Dragton. Dragonsrest was returned to be ruled by the Takahashi House with the ascention of Yoshi Takahashi the Wolf Tamer.

While some parts of the city have been identified as classic Dagor architecture, those structures have but all been taken over by the more common Nomadic style. Most houses and shops are built slightly off the ground with paper thin inner-walls with tiled/thatched roofs. Castle Dragon, which houses the current seated Lord Regent and his family, is one of the last structures that still depicts standard Dagor design.
