Aporeu chronicles Issue 87: Providing a meal
Stories from the adventurers
This week
And now another diary entry.
Providing a meal by Nyana
(Editor’s note: I got this from a young elven lady. It appears she copied it from her diary, which I found rather quaint - but it is good enough to print, especially since it is the only first hand account we got about how an archer and another person were killed, and a grove was burned.) This was it, my first mission, and it was great! I met some nice new friends - at least, Kenzie said I am her friend now, and I’m glad about that. Somehow I do not make friends easily, but now I’m in the Adventurers’ Guild, it seems to become better. Who’d have thought that fighting alongside each other creates some kind of bond, right? So, in the morning I met up with the other people who would go out on a hunt with me. There was GnArt, who does something awesome with mechanical things I believe. He rode some kind of mechanical thing that looked a bit scary, but it only attacked our enemies, so that is okay. Then Naïlo, the friendly giant Firbolg who comes from Scotire too. I do not think monsters and bandits would call him friendly too though. Errus is the Tiefling. He is a bit weird, he can explode like the Bob I heard stories about. He did not hit us with it, but I am wary. Especially since he loves fire so much, and he kept saying that he burned some bodies we wanted to bring for a proper burial, because he wanted something to set fire to. In the middle of the forest. The guy creeps me out a bit, to be honest, but to each their own. Then there was Kenzie, who loves to talk. Between her and GnArt I sometimes had difficulty hearing my own thoughts. She is more kind than she sometimes looks though. She has a twin sister who is not her twin sister, because they are a year apart from each other, but Kenzie says she is the pretty one. She is pretty, so until proven otherwise, I believe her.
Forbes, the butler of the Wellington-Smytes, wanted a lot of fresh meat for a party. The hunters were too scared of a ghost to go hunting, so they asked us to do it. So we did. We hunted some deer, and learned they can run really fast and then smash you with their antlers. That hurts! A lot! We did get them down though, as well as some bears and an owlbear, who turned out to be a polymorphed human. We found out about that, because his friends started to shoot at us from the trees. We killed one of them, and bound the other. From him we found out that the hunters never hunted that way down, to not mistake their friends for actual owlbears. However, the hunters didn’t want to hunt because of a ghost, and we didn’t know.
Bob, that archer, led us to the grove where the ghost lady was the next morning. After my watch that is, A watch that I sat out in a creepy smell of burned human, which is entirely Errus’s fault. Because he used the dead bodies as kindling instead of wood. I’m glad I did give the poor bastards some kind of ritual, and there were some of them left to bury. Anyway, The ghost appeared to be a dryad ghost, the poor thing. She was also creepy, wailing for us to die. We did put her to rest though, and we burned the grove in case she was bound to the place.
So that is how we managed to get meat for a party, and make sure the hunters can go hunting again.
Bye, Nyana
