Using the Bazaar
Located in the Gathering Hub, the Bazaar acts as a semi-IC channel for tracking purchases, sales, and exchanges of inventory and services. Posts inside this forum are treated as physical spaces in the game universe, drawn together across time and space for your convenience in the game location of the same name - The Bazaar - regardless of their true location in existence. People are generally unaware of this as they come and go through the space and its connected stores, sometimes only seeing what they want to see during their visit.
A few NPC shops have been provided for access to general goods and services, which list sale prices in their respective pinned posts. These shops will feature the NPC Shop tag, including any pop-up shops that might occasionally appear in the marketplace.
- The Grand Emporium handles the exchange of general goods and adventure supplies. Items worth more than 1,000 GP, firearms, or magic items other than common potions or common wondrous items cannot be found in nor purchased from the emporium. Any item can be sold to the Emporium for half its catalogue value.
- Lady Bashira's Oasis is an auction hall where unclaimed loot from missions or abandoned items occasionally find their way to. Anything without a bit by the end of the week it's posted in vanishes into oblivion.
- The Kolyarut is a place of literal trade. If you want to swap inventory between characters (either yours or someone else's), log it here.
- Rainbow Roulette is for the gamblers in us. Put money in, get random Chromatite out. You might even win a special Ruby Tear!
- The Scrollbinder's Institute is a place of scholarly learning and research. This channel is used for Scrivening, and if you lack your own workshop, is where you'll keep track of formulas you have or are researching.
- The All-Forge is a place for craftsmen to hone their skills in lieu of having their own workshops. If you're going to craft, this is probably where you're going to do it until you have your own space.
Logging Transactions
Once you've joined a shop thread, you're free to talk both in- and out-of-character to discuss and log the exchange. "Pandora is interested in buying your fernian ash focus. How much are you selling it for?" That sort of thing. Once an agreement is made, make sure everything is noted right there, including running the commands (like !g coins). This helps us keep track of things if we ever need to look. After the transaction is completed, you're welcome to leave the thread to avoid excess notifications from other patrons. Or stay. I'm not a cop.Player Shops
Players are also welcome to get in on the shopkeeping experience. A player who owns a workshop is welcome to open a shop in the bazaar (IE, "make a post") based on the kind of workshop they run. Certain magic items can only be crafted in one type of shop and not another, so all player shops need tagged with the correct profession. If your character does not meet the prerequisites to open a shop, your post will be locked (or deleted) at administration's discretion. When posting your own shop, title it in a way that helps it stand out. Good titles usually include your character's name or something thematic and catchy, like a blacksmith named "The Dragon's Touch." That's Civip's forge. You should stop by sometime. The original or "top" post should include your shop's description, along with goods and services as your character would present them. If you want the top post pinned, ping Wraith or whichever staff member you feel confident won't stab you as a result of being pinged and let them know as the top post can get buried rather quickly in busier or older shops. As mentioned elsewhere, your shop is also the preferred location for logging any of your character's craft or project attempts related to your profession of choice. We talk about that more in craft.
Imp's Imp-orium
Hi, and welcome to my shop! Where is it? Wouldn't you like to know? Definitely not hidden in some giant's pocket where I harvest all their pocket-lint for my very lucrative quilt exchange. Apprentices
None - if I'm teaching you how to do my job, we've got bigger problems. Inventory
Services
- Portable Hole (50,000 GP). The one, the only. I ruined a whole adventure with this one item. Ah, the memories.
- Ogre's Pocket Knife (500,000 GP). This thing can do everything! It can make swords, and guns, and... and well, I guess that's really it, but it can do those really well if you can get them to work! Don't mind the fact it looks like the desiccated arm of a historically problematic warforged. Very handy (wink), totally a legendary item.
- A Real Eye (100,000 GP). Why yes, it is real.
- Cursed Witch's Hat (50 GP). This item formerly belonged to a witch who couldn't seem to stop getting herself into trouble. Most people blamed the hat, even though it was completely mundane. Stylish. Wear at your own risk. Stay away from bath tubs in haunted houses.
- Mask of the Beast (300 GP). I stole- liberated this novel find from a craftsman in the feywilds. It's carved in the likeness of a stag, and supposed to be an homage to an ancient, forgotten deity of life. I don't really believe it, but hey, it's magical and I'm sure someone's furry enough to want it.
You can't afford me. But if you think of it, and I think it's funny enough, I might just do it for free. I am not responsible for the consequences of your criminal desires. Looking For
I will happily purchase your dignity for the low, low price of 1 GP. Give it to me. Now.
