Marivel Amarum Walpurgis

Queen Mariv Marum Walpurga Marum Walpurga (a.k.a. The Golden Girl)

The first Queen of Walpurgis, given the right to rule at the ripe age of 13 by her status as an emancipated Conduit and by dawning the Amarum Armor Set forged by Masamune. Her rule lasted until she was 81 when she also became the first infected by The Withering. Her story is inspiring to battle maidens across Tara as others seek to take up the mantle in her honor and find her legendary armor.

Personal history

Mariv Marum Walpurga, as she was known then, was born to a woman in The Crown City in complete obscurity, sometime before one of its many moved throughout the continent. Born golden and glowing, the mother thought to escape with her from the city, and did so. There was no husband to keep her from doing so. There was none, and never had been. The poor mother had an immaculate conception and so Mariv appeared. For years, the two lived alone, solitary and in the forests until the daughter grew ill. Having no one to talk to but her mother and God was said to have made her ill, like a virus that seeks to spread but cannot find another host.   The mother knew not and prayed for healers. Though by a string of fate did they arrive and took deep interest in the child. This is when she was kidnapped, or so the story goes, deep into the night, like wolves who had stolen the sun.   They found out later that her God spoke through her, though, carrying around the golden child, were not so very surprised. Intrigued but also greedy, they drew up a church around the girl who they began to feed lies to. They told her they had saved her from a cruel fate, that she would have died in the woods. And, for years, she believed it.   It was then a blacksmith was hired by the healers, as well as carpenters, architects and the like, to construct a building around Mariv, who they dubbed with a more royal sounding name (Marivel Amarum Walpurgis). They jealously guarded her, told her that she had to stay at the center of the building to hold the spirit of it down. The blacksmith saw how these healers treated her and grew interested. This was Masamune who would become a secret confidant of hers, a dear friened, who was a Conduit himself though of metal. Though they knew it not yet, He would go on to forge her armor, as his God had before for the God that resided inside Marivel, for they were bound, he, the blacksmith, and she, the tempest of change with war.   But it was not immediate, and the healers drew around themselves those they conned and scammed, while they kept their golden girl inside closed walls. When Masamune had forged the armor, when he had gathered up those who distrusted the old Healers, he rose up, freed the girl, and went on to follow her.   Disgusted at her own mistreatment and how she let it happen, she took her armor, enlisted in a villages militia, their army, and began to train with them. They were an old village abandoned by the Crown City. It is written that she was able to get the City to move and retreat with how she rallied those with unrest in their hearts, and harried the city.   When they had moved, she founded a new city of free people, free from the tyranny of religion, free from the capitalistic wolves. She later marries her husband and has three children, keeping contact with Masamune as he enjoys supporting other conquests.   There are conflicting accounts with what she did with the armor; no one knows whether she returned the armor to Masamune, gave it to one of her children, but everyone knows that she did not have it buried with any of her family members.   After her tragic death, it is said that her husband ruled for a very short time, leaving one of her eldest children to rule in their stead, at 13. To this day, her founded city is the only one that remains on ill terms with The Crown City.

Education

Her only formal education was that given to her by the Clergyman who sought to encase her in her cloister. After her emancipation, she sought training in the combative arts, and enlisted in the military. Due to her golden hue fading with age, revealing a much more womanly presence underneath her golden flakes, She was treated honorably, especially for how quickly she picked up the art. She moved onto horseback riding, is said to have won skirmished against The Tribe of Faust, and later founded her own city as a haven from religious influences and the Crown City.
