Sagwalli

These guys are pretty badass but super evil and most consider themselves better than members of all the other races, with exception to the Toppers. They have scales and 4 arms, which they're pretty good with.

They also are kind of basically Nazis. Think about it: eugenics to encourage strength, extreme hatred of most other races (except the Toppers), countless actions that would be considered war crimes such as genociding most of their species, their Templar is basically the LIR's equivalent to the SS and Sagwalli children are taught to look up to an individual who tricked hundreds of thousands into coming to slave camps and then working them all to death. Darn it and when I initially wrote about these they were meant to be cool.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Average 8 foot tall with 4 arms and scales covering their bodies. These scales are all grey or black and vary in shade. They have nasty looking gnashers between those gums (imagine a stereotypical cartoon piranha's teeth) and are quite muscular. Their legs are triple jointed, much like a kangaroo's, and they have scary looking claws.

Genetics and Reproduction

They reproduce in a rather human-like manner (let's keep this PG-13) but more importantly lay 2-5 eggs per reproduction cycle, which take an average 2 months to hatch. Due to their unnatural genetics, about a third of Sagwalli young die within their eggs, even if all the external conditions are perfect. Young hatch with small horns on their noses for breaking out of eggs but these are covered by flesh and skin as they grow. Speaking of which they usually mature at ~30 years of age. Some young are born nearer the natural Sagwalli size or with the natural 2 arms of Sagwalli due to recessive genes. These are immediately sacrificed to keep the species strong.

Growth Rate & Stages

Hatching is followed by a stage much like infancy where the young grow to about 4 feet tall. At this stage their muscles begin to grow out and their scales thicken in a puberty-like process, after which they are technically capable of reproduction but it is dangerous and unlikely for them to do so. Until the age of 30 they keep growing in height with slowly enlarging muscles and are then fully fledged adults. They then have a further 90 or so years to live before they start getting old and weak, which is usually met with being killed to keep the race strong but anyone who isn't can expect to live to 230 years old.

Ecology and Habitats

Their most natural habitat are forested mountainous regions but their intelligence allowed them to live everywhere on their home world. There are also plenty of them living off of their home world in LIR colonies.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They are mostly carnivorous but can eat some berries to access certain vitamins. Before being modified, they farmed worm-like creatures and occasionally hunted but now they are all about introducing off-world animals to their planet's ecosystem for food and hunting is more of a sport for young or ill Sagwalli to prove that they're not weak.

Biological Cycle

They used to have a thing for being more tired as part of a large time cycle in their bodies, mostly due to the fact that it was at this time on their home planet that plants were less active and so the Sagwalli couldn't have as much fun with the shortage of food and became less active to cover the calorie loss.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Their sight is generally better than that of a human for depth perception and long-distance vision but their night vision is awful and they can't tell the colours red, green, orange and yellow apart. Their hearing is slightly worse than that of a human.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

They usually name their kids after weapons, important places, slightly altered versions of the names of their gods and their ancestors. They usually have 5 names each; a given name from their parents, their "first" family name of the parent of the same gender (which is the one they pass on to their own children), their "second" family name of the parent of the opposite gender, a taken name and a nickname; as well as numerous titles each.

Major Organizations

The Sagwalli Templar believes the Toppers to be demigods, that those who die for a good cause (the Templar's far more violent equivalents of priests getting to decide what causes are good and which are bad) will go to an equivalent of heaven, that there are numerous afterlives depending on how one dies and lived their lives and that anyone who opposes their demigod "guides", being the Toppers, should be killed with extreme brutality. They have the support of almost every Sagwalli (because they kill any who don't support them) while about 20percent of Sagwalli are actually members. The Templar is basically an addition to the LIR's army that is used for making a point when crushing rebellions as the Templar Fighters are known for being extremely brutal, usually quickly taking out anyone who can fight them and then torturing any that they disarm or who are already unarmed. Said torture is known to last until death or when the Sagwalli Fighters are informed that they need to go elsewhere to deal with some other rebels (at which point those being tortured are immediately killed).

Beauty Ideals

Scars, big muscles, being tall, being known as a badass and the like are all things that will up the odds of any Sagwalli getting laid.

Gender Ideals

Everyone should be a master in the art of shanking things. Fun fact: Sagwalli rarely raise their own children but instead up to 40 at a time will be left in the care of what are best described as nuns. This is not what they'd do naturally and is actually bad for the mental health of all parties involved but let's face it these guys are descended from those who wrecked a perfectly good civilisation and started a cult they're not the most logical lot.

Courtship Ideals

"Hey, scarred and pretty female, if I told you that I've killed 42 heretics, would you mate with me?"

"Sorry, scarred and pretty male, I am already appointed with a male who has killed 44 heretics."

Relationship Ideals

They don't really do relationships. They do: "oh cool you got knocked up so I guess that I, the male, am required to meet your financial needs until the child is born, at which point we leave them with one of our nun equivalents and then are free of responsibilities to one another."

Average Technological Level

Well they work for the LIR, which entails space transport, laser/plasma weapons and getting to drop nukes on heretic rebel scum.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Well that religion of theirs puts across a singular language so the only sources of outside words they get is whenever a new invention is made or place discovered by the LIR.

Common Etiquette Rules

They eat alone. Social interaction tends to consist of explaining ways they have killed or want to kill their enemies and is rare. Most of them are very lonely, and they do have a sense of loneliness.

Common Dress Code

Armour; all the time. Casually they will just wear their most comfortable gear, which they usually decorate quite a bit with skulls (very rarely human), gems and spikes (as well as other stuff of course).

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Their culture is one in which almost all of them are in the military. There is a slight underlying shame in most of them as they know the truth of the old Sagwalli civilisation but they don't speak out due to fear of persecution, so they go along with the flow and act like they're obsessed with their religion and the Toppers.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Non-combat tests of strength, especially against other Sagwalli, are extremely frequent and have become a part of their customs. Other customs include; mating being enforced by the Templar through saying that it's wrong not to produce a minimum of *insert ridiculous number* young in one's lifetime and other stuff enforced by the Templar. Fun does not play a large role in the lives of Sagwalli, or at least it doesn't when curtains are open.

Common Taboos

Being weak, being a heretic. That sums it up pretty well.

History

One day, a species of fast-running Sagwalli started using spears and sharpened rocks to take out prey that they chased into corners. This species would go on to take out its slightly less intelligent cousins.

Even later on, it would have numerous powerful nations and have sent their first objects into space.

The 38 Sagwalli nations lived in harmony, until the crazy religious nutters attacked! These were Sagwalli who modified themselves into powerful fighters with 4 arms each (specifically modifying child Sagwalli and converting them to their ideology to be future soldiers while enslaving regular Sagwalli as cannon-fodder fighters and manual labour). Soon the remaining regular nations were pressed to the point of using weapons of mass destruction such as nukes and genetically modified diseases to try and defend themselves, but this backfired when the modified Sagwalli used them as well, causing the destruction of all their civilisations. Over the next 300 years the Sagwalli continued to sprint backwards technologically as they continued to fight amongst themselves and many of their greatest monuments fell into ruin. A modified-only cult popped up that actively killed regular Sagwalli and worshipped old artefacts - claiming they'd been made by modified Sagwalli and that the new ones were actually those the gods had deemed unworthy of strength and being alive. 30 years later and the Sagwalli were using swords, with all of the world's gun ammo having been depleted and the guns themselves therefore being useless, and armour from "the days of the gods" was a treasured commodity of the upper classes amongst warriors.

When the Toppers and Claws showed up, they offered the Sagwalli the chance to join them. Some did willingly. For most, however, their religious leaders told them that the Toppers and Claws were demons trying to sway them from their religion, as the Toppers and Claws were telling the Sagwalli to stop worshipping their gods. War lasted 32 years, with it ultimately ending because of the Toppers deciding that the Sagwalli could continue to worship their gods so long as they adapted technologically. On one occasion, a Topper who attempted to use the Sagwalli to seize control of the LIR told them that the Toppers were demigods and that their leaders had been corrupted and therefore had to help him take over; this failed but the idea of the Toppers being demigods stuck, with the idea of them being corrupted being forcefully removed.

Historical Figures

Well there's *nuh uh* of *as if* who tricked loads of regular Sagwalli into coming to slave camps, telling them they just had to work for him as slave labour to avoid being killed (let the fact that many actually came sink in on just how desperate and likely to die they were) and would even be allowed to have children and that they could make full on settlements eventually and just pay the modified Sagwalli tribute. Then he had almost all of them worked to death and murdered the rest. This is someone that modern Sagwalli children are taught to look up to.

Common Myths and Legends

Oh god the endless number of gods and heroes and stories about gods and heroes.

For example; one day their was a Modified Sagwalli called *yeah there's no spelling that right* who was killing lots of regular Sagwalli when they encountered some regular Sagwalli who had far better weapons than them. So they caused and avalanche and massacred anyone who had any limbs sticking out over the rocks.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

They love the Toppers. Other than that they like other races that they regard as "strong" and "honourable" (keep in mind their sense of honour doesn't mix well with most of the ones we've seen in our history. For example: "kill all who oppose the gods without mercy; adult or child, armed or unarmed, strong or weak. For they are our enemies and deserve death." - a common mantra that Sagwalli sing before battle. In terms of other races however they apply this as "they aren't wimps" and "they're loyal to the Toppers") such as Claws, Avians, Goners and some others. That said they are mostly disliked by other races because, for most species, the fact that you shouldn't kill children or those who are unarmed and so can't hurt you is close to universal.
Scientific Name
Quattuor armatus
Origin/Ancestry
Originally, their species didn't have 4 arms. They were also much smaller. Then a group decided to genetically modify themselves and murder anyone who refused to be modified as well.
Conservation Status
Well the LIR kind of likes these guys because of a certain organisation amongst them that is brilliant for crushing rebels and fights with such fanatical-ness that you don't even need to worry about them not wanting to die in that particular battlefield; because they often do.
