History

Originally a Prison set in the side of the mountains, the company that ran the nearby mines offered to purchase and run the prison. The rulers of the area seeing an opportunity to wash their hands of place and increase business accepted.

Architecture

The entrance to the mines are three colossal stone archways, with giant chains leading inside to drag out the monumental buckets of ore and rock produced in the mines. The factories are of iron and wood, with stone around any forges. Partially rusted and designed for unscrupulous efficiency above all other factors, they are a death trap for any who enter. Beyond an inner wall lies a shanty town of ramshackle wooden buildings occupied by the prisoners, not deeming to waste time and effort producing housing, the prisoners are given a monthly delivery of wood and stone to build or repair their dwellings.

I really like the delightfully dark opening to the article and seeing government type listed as "Absolute Corporate Tyranny" really makes me like it. :D Awesome mood-setting snippets like that really help tell us more about the place and the setting it is in.
