Verdan
Origins
Every once in a while, a goblin is able to do something truly miraculous: they are able to impress Quetminook. When this happens, he raises them up and improves them. He turns them from Goblin to Verdan. Those who become Verdan usually have high expectations thrust upon them. Since their inception, there have been some Verdan born. The circumstances for this seem to be that a Verdan is present somewhere in the newborn's direct ancestors, that at least one of the parents has met a Verdan at some point in their lives prior to the birth of the child, and that the mother is subjected to magic during the pregnancy. When born naturally, Verdan are often expected to be influential and important. These high expectations often come with high pressure.Regions
Vredan can be found anywhere that Goblins can, though in far reduced numbers.Stereotypes
Stereotype | Why this Stereotype Exists |
---|---|
Verdan are not Goblins. | Despite their difference in appearance imn amny regards, Verdan are still, technically speaking, Goblins. Often, when a Verdan has a child with a Goblin, the child is a Goblin. |
Verdan are preternaturally powerful mages. | While some are created in regards to a magical discovery, others are accomplished scientists. Even when a discovery has to do with magic, it might be some niche or esoteric corner that does not easily lend itself to practical application. |
Verdan have a superiority complex over Goblins. | Some do let the expectations go to their heads and can become exceedingly arrogant, though most remain dedicated to their research. |
