Sacrosanct House of Twins

The Sacrosanct House of Twins is the religion and religious organization dedicated to Cheznerix. The House stands as recognition to Cheznerix's love of twins and the trickery that they can bring. The House's main goal, ostensibly, is the collection and preservation of stories. As such, they are often refered to as Lorekeepers. The other side of the organization, behind closed doors, is known as the Loremakers. Just as the first twins told stories and carried out acts that inspired noew ones, the House is focused on both the collection and collection of legends.    Their mission is twofold: to amass stories, and to learn if any of them have a kernal of truth, and to use that kernal, if it exists, to foster new stories. When they look at a particular story, they find as many variations of it as they can, then boil them all down to the common elements. This is often hard, time consuming work. In the end, after sometimes hundreds of work hours, they have a truth or truths that they try to verify. To verify, they have several methods. One is trying to ifgure out which story was the original, and getting as close as they can to the source. Other times, they look for the common elements, expanding their search if they can't locate them to some elements of the stories that popped up frequently.    When they are finished, they have done one of three things: verified, dismissed, or relegated. By verifying, they endorse the stories, saying that they are in some part true. By dismissing, they say that the story is a complete falsehood. By relegating it, they say that there is evidence to suggest veracity, but not enough to fully verify. When a story is relegated, another team, sometimes years sometimes generations later, will try again, almost always with new information.    Occasionally in a story, they will find a clue to deeper truths that was planted there by Cheznerix. When one is found, it is examined by the Scribes of Ibdilik. If they determine that it is truly from Cheznerix, then the individual who discovered it is allowed to pen the line into the Ibdilik, and is elevated to the rank of Scribe.    The House supports all their clergy's efforts to find roles that they are passionate about and can execute well. As a result, changing form one role within the House (Excluding Twins and Scribes) to another is as easy as announcing that you are one. The House is built on passion: passion for stories, passion for belief, and passion for making the world better.   The House has long been opposed to the Enlightened Luunlird Forces that have taken control of Riflian. They have done their best to foment unrest among the Elves, believing that they must take part in the world again, and use their long lives and wisdom to help the other races. Their efforts have not been successful, but neither have they revealed themselves to be the enemies of the Forces.

Structure

The Sacrosant House of Twins is led by, perhaps unsurprisingly, the Twins. In this context, the Twins are largely symbolic, though there have been actual twins who held these two roles. One Twin is the Twin of Papers, in charge of stories and the part of the church dedicated to verifying stories. The other is the Twin of Ink, in charge of action and the fostering of new legends.    While the Twins lead, they are advised by the Scribes of the Ibdilik. The Scribes have ranged in number, anywhere between four and nine. They spend much of their time pondering the deeper truths revealed by the Ibdilik and helping the Twins to make decisions about the House as a whole.   Below each Twin, the organization is a bit different. The Lorekeepers have far more people than the Loremakers, due to the amount of work required of the former, and the vast hours of research they have to do for each story. The Loremakers, on the other hand, have much more of an impact on the world. The Lorekeepers report to the Twin of Papers, and the Loremakers to the Twin of Ink.   The Lorekeepers are separeted into several groups: the Readers, the Quills, and the Storytellers. The Readers are those that sift through stories looking for kernals of truth. The Quills are those who go out and look for proof in the world at large. The Storytellers are Cheznerix's priests, who help spiritually guide those who come to them.   The Loremakers have two groups. The Foreshadows and the Epistrophes. Foreshadows make up most of the Loremakers' numbers, and for large portions of the House's history, all of them. They take hints of verified stories and give them to people who will hint down the truth, and in doing so, create a new story worthy of Cheznerix. The Epistrophes remove the middleman, and make the stories themselves, going out in search of the truth and greatness. Generally speaking, the Loremakers prefer to act as guides.
