Avadhistan

Avadhistan is the land of the Avadhi, who are the largest ethnic group within it. They are ruled by the Rashtrikutas, and have been since the middle ages. The country runs along the Ganges and the Himalayas, from outside of Lahore in the west to the Bengal delta in the east. It is a land-based empire, with one of the largest populations, and armies, in the world. It does have access to the sea and to international trade that way, but it relies primarily on overland trade within India and from Indo-China.   Geopolitically, Avadhistan is nearly hemmed in. Its rival Tamilakam in the south, is the world's foremost naval power and can block its access to the Indian and Pacific oceans at will. Meanwhile, to the north and west, Eranshahr and its ally of Tibet pose threats to its core from their mountainous advantage. Its greatest respites are its economic domination over much of India- minus the more southerly states, and its relationship with some of the Indo-Chinese states.
