Javiden of Incaras

Javiden is a senior gryphon rider of the Guild of Incaras. He has served courier missions and as messenger for the Lords of Asir Keep in the northeast mountains. He is also a member of the Hunter's guild and has engaged in a variety of assignments hunting fell beasts and spying on the Sidereal Fae invaders of the town of Sea Keep. He is in his 50's with sparkling green-hazel eyes, and dark haired, though showing grey at temples and in the neatly kept goatee. 

In 484-85 he found a previously legendary region with an unknown Naming kind. The years of 484 and 485 were spent in developing knowledge and confidences with the Hakatskaziu people and the land known as Hakat. In 486 parts of his journal were published in the Journals of the Theophilosophical Society of Incaras, endorsed and supported by the Gryphon Riders Guild. The Guild further supported Javiden's presenting materials and notes to scholars and sages at the University of Incaras. As word spread of the fantastic discovery there were ever increasing levels of speculation, interest, greed for products and trade and inquiry.  Lords and ladies, Guild masters and various merchants have taken to inviting the Senior Rider in as speaker and guest of dinner parties, banquets and The Courts ( parties of the nobility, officers, high level politicians and aristocrats)

Likes & Dislikes

Sir Javiden is  quite fond of Centaur philosophy and literature.  He is also a student of history with a special interest in the early Heroic Age and the early Ata empire.  He knows Atan, Lyrian, Centaur and Elvish.  He has a small vocabulary of Ghenid and recently learned Hakaskaziu.
His dislikes he rarely lets slip, but will tire of parochial small mindedness and people who see everything in terms of profits/loss or value.

Vices & Personality flaws

The knight prefers ales to wines, and will drink to excess if no one is paying attention.  Despite this, when sober he is exacting and detail oriented with a pessimistic view that things WILL go wrong, so have a back up and an alternate plan.

Social

Family Ties

The Rider is of the eastern Cartel's Juba Family of Caravaners. The family and all the eastern cartel suffered from the impact of the Sidereal Invasion of SeaKeep in 479 and loss of major trade. The northern Juba cousins had strong business ties in the High Keeps which they have sought to diversify.  The family is now eager to find access to the Hakat and expects Javiden to provide them an edge. 
Geof, Tribune of the Iron District in the south west of Incaras, is a nephew. Javiden has been known to be a supporter and extended loans to Geof.  Both are also at odds with the bulk of the family, being of the Guild supporting Oak Order political faction rather than the mercantile Golden Star favored by most Juba.

He is a widower from his first marriage and dissolved a second. Neither with children. He has had several affairs with other officers and has taken some apprentices, now juniors, underwing beyond protege and almost as adopted children.

Religious Views

Sir Javiden is not a very religious man, but experienced in the various Powers of the world. As such he observes the Church of Powers in the Fae manner of meditation and respecting influential spiritual and supernatural beings.

Mannerisms

Outwardly jovial and outgoing, Javiden is cautious and politic in practice and pessimistic in private. He is exacting and demanding of his underlings. His reputation amongst junior riders is as a deadly serious officer. His most frequent comments are " In the field you rarely get a second chance. " and  "Know the hazards and have a plan and a back up and a spare!" 
In conversation Javiden will liberally use hand gestures showing positions, irritation or hurry and directions. Pointing, waving and wrist flicks or rolls are common.

Hobbies & Pets

As a gryphon rider, his mount is a significant companion and occupation.  Hours are spent daily in brushing, grooming, feeding and tending "Boss", his gryphon.  He may try to get out of obligations or expectations by saying that he has to report to his "Boss".

Wealth & Financial state

Javiden's wealth has increased significantly in the past year beyond his commission salary, with his discovery, notes and samples. His book has sold many copies and he has been hired to tutor students in the language of the Hakatskaziu.  He has also built wealth as an adventurer and hunter.
