Inspirations

There was a door to which I found no key, There was the veil through which I might not see.

  • Build your own myth and live inside of it - a paraphrase of Joseph Campbell. “…the individual has had an experience of his own–of order, horror, beauty, or even mere exhilaration–which he seeks to communicate through signs; and if his realisation has been of a certain depth and import, his communication will have the value and force of living myth – for those, that is to say, who receive and respond to it of themselves, with recognition, uncoerced.” "....it’s our own desire to find new symbols for own experiences of order, horror, beauty and exhilaration that inspire so many people today to create their own mythic stories using ancient formulas of myth."- Damien Walter

I read about Cherron’s cosmology on the category page. Is the mythical cosmology the actual cosmology in this world? That is if a character traveled far enough would they actually encounter the edge of the world?

There is in- fact an edge to the world. It is enclosed in the crystalline dome of the heavens and springs and cycles on elemental seeds. The waters escape from under the dome and flow back to the elemental core. I played with the idea of a cube shaped world, but elected for a simpler model. The true cosmology is that this is a dream realm created by the dreams of elder beings. There are many others with their own rules and structures out in or beyond the rift/ void where things that are are not, cannot be or are not- but want to be might be found. The world is born of D&D, Chivalry and Sorcery, White Wolf games, Empire of the Petal Throne, Jorune, Micro games, Sorcerer, Deadlands and Rippers, Shadowrun and earthdawn and I am working in elements of Traveler and Ryuutama.
