All over the world, mortals like you or I grovel at the feet of the Divine that they claim control everything. And yet, these selfsame gods destroyed themselves and the world nearly a century prior. How is such a thing possible?

Purpose

Gods and Men's author has remained silent since its publication by official Vochalian government publishing houses. The author's name has since been proven to be a pseudonym, but detractors accuse the text of being a piece of pure propoganda from Vochal's government.

Historical Details

History

Gods and Men was published as the story of The War of the Divine started gaining popularity within Vochal, and framed itself as "your sole source of truth regarding The Divine War". Soon after its publication in 1604, the government of Vochal proceeded to outlaw religious practices in all their forms within the country.

Public Reaction

Within the nation's borders, Vochalian citizens were shocked and horrified of the 'truth' about the massive war over a century prior at that point. But beyond the initial horror, large swaths of the public were quick to accept the narrative presented.

Outside of Vochal's borders, as copies of Gods and Men were smuggled out and translated into other languages around the world, people were increasingly outraged about the rewriting of critical aspects of Chardovilian history, and multiple Eastern nations responded with sanctions against Vochal.

Legacy

Present day Vochal remains the most hostile nation in the world for religious individuals, churches, and even foreign clergy. Gods and Men also set research on the Astral War back decades as Vochal proceeded to obliterate any religious influence or relics-- including depictions and records of the Divine themselves-- from within its expanding borders.

The state of Si Flana was the first Eastern nation to sanction Vochal for the publication. The nations of Slitish, Isati, Cinem, Auvalia, Aplor, Celishi soon followed.
