Scope
The motivation behind building Chaos Re/Coil
My purpose is to continue the creation of a world I started with an old friend, in their memory, and to create a new experience for all my friends.
The goal of the project
I am hoping to give my friends an epic shounen anime experience where they can create their own heroes, special attacks, and crazy fights.
Chaos Re/Coil's Unique Selling point
The hook of this world is essentially getting to play the Chrono Trigger tabletop game I've always wanted, included with inspiration from classic and cult anime from the 1980s-90s.
Theme
Genre
The genre of this world is science fantasy, and retrofuturism. A technologically advanced world without being cyberpunk--- a world that is still big and wide open and sometimes rural. Swords and Motorcycles. Computers and Chimeras. Mad scientists and martial arts masters!
Reader Experience
The world should feel magical, varied, and dangerous, like in a Studio Ghibli film like Nausicaa or Howl's Moving Castle, with mystical forests and castles, big modern cities, wide open prairies, mountains, tiny farming villages, floating islands, animal spirit gods, etc.
Reader Tone
The tone is somewhere in the middle between lighthearted and dark. There are dark aspects to the world, but like many manga and anime, there are many opportunities for humor and silliness. Because this is for a podcast, I'd like it to be lighthearted and funny until it isn't, using that tone to make darker or more serious moments impactful.

1. Big, imposing villains with multiple forms and henchmen.
2. A magic system that leaves a lot of room for imagination and creativity for the players

4. Retro-futuristic technology existing side by side with ancient ruins, castles, and knights.

Characters will be starting out in the first campaign at the precipice of a major change in the world-- their choices will have lasting effects on other characters and world events.
