Arrival in Nan Tarim
General Summary
Joetta and her companions Azmazar , Bordun Barrik and Bobor Pat'an disembark from the Darklighter's Fancy in Nan Tarim
Azmazar is arrested at once, as he had expected, by the guards of the city, imposing spear carrying warriors whose helmets bear raven-wings in bronze.
Bobor Pat'an left the group briefly to visit an old contact Nimun to change some of Joetta's coin into local currency.
Joetta herself noticed there was a rich palanquin in the square nearby, a group of menacing brigand types watching the crowd and a naive young woman looking entirely out of place and clearly attempting to pass as a local. When the menacing brigands began to follow the young woman, Joetta and Barrick moved to assist her leading to a confrontation in an alleyway and a strange encounter with a local dentist's assistant.
Suitably rescued the young woman introduced herself as Kiula , daughter of Tomin Barava a wealthy local merchant. She had ventured out from her home in the garments of her maid to try to meet a man, Ruru Nahal who she had met once and fallen desperately in love with.
Bobor Pat'an returned with coins but departed again as he said Nimun had fallen under the curse of a local witch Thiyatra and Bobor felt he should help.
Joetta, Barrik and Kiula went in search of Ruru Nahal and found their way to a plaza where merchants traded in valuable commodities. While Barrick went off to investigate a Mera broke free of its handler and rampaged across the square. Joetta managed to save @Kiula from the rampaging and confused beast.
Ruru Nahal emerged into the square calling for calm just as Bordun Barrik approached Joetta and warned her that they must not arrange for Nahal and Kiula to meet.
