Neustria

The Grand Duchy of Neustria is a vassal state of the Empire of Suncalia. Neustria is ruled by a foreign-born dynasty from the Estrian continent, a cadet line of the Imperial Vernian dynasty. It is a growing polity, with many local resources and even more ambitions, but it is stifled by the dreams of the Grand Duke Albert I, who would like to reign with absolute rule, and the traditions of the nobility, who are jealous of their privileges and wish to keep their own autonomy and power.
The Grand Duchy holds dear Iomedae and her teachings. Both the reigning family, the nobility and the common people are inspired by her to live righteous lifes and to answer the call for heroic deeds for the protection of their loved ones and their country. Maybe for this reason Neustria produces a strangely high number of adventurers, who are in turn strangely respected by locals, and often given reasonable help if they are in a state of tribulation.
The Grand Duchy is the residence of many powerful mages, and the previous Grand Duke, Frederich III, opened the Galataza School of Magic, to mold Vesprian and Estrian schools of magic. It accepts very few new students every year, as the entrance fee is extremely high and the Grand Duke finances poor students only if they can prove to be the best of the crop.
