Red Legion
The exact origins of the Red Legion are unclear, the only concrete knowledge is that they were one of the original 63 warbands on Ursa Minor. War across Ursa Minor raged and conflict along the coast was the most viscous. At the southern coast a small group at what would now be Coastwick went through a sudden change. Some say they gained a new leader, others say they found some sort of mystic power or knowledge. All that was for certain was the warband arrived on the field of battle sporting rusty red armor and massive weapons fit to kill giant monster rather than the humanoid combatants on the field.
They were furious and relentless in battle yet they still moved with tactical insight which allowed their smaller warband to deal with the much larger foes. Those that didn't relent were destroyed, those found worthy were included. After the first day as a changed warband their old name was burned forever and the Red Legion rose to march across Ursa Minor. Led by Chief Xerxes, the Red Legion grew the further north they went and conquered the 63 warbands within 5 years of their reappearance.
In battle the Red Legion battle with furious savagery and their massive weapons. Runes across armor and weapons grant weak magical effects but across every member of the warband the effect becomes noticeable. The veteran fighters have gained the ability to increase their size which further boosts the destructive force of the Red Legion while inspiring its members. These massive warriors can also be found in the back line using the ballista and cannons of the legion to provide mobile destructive ranged covering fire. The eldest warriors who answer only to Chief Xerxes are said to channel the elemental powers of the giants themselves.
Outside of battle the Red Legion's members are constantly training and preparing while guarding the Island they have won over. In the capital city of Leafpyle resides a grand arena where Chief Xerxes hosts battles and tournaments for those looking for a glory and blood, The Red Legion does not participate though. The Red Legion has their own gladiatorial arena where they host battles amongst themselves. The battles go to 3rd blood and help build comradery and skill amongst the legion.
