Session 2: To Brevin's Gap!

General Summary

The Mist Attacks!

3rd Earthday, Stormswane 25 AR

While the party sleeps for their first night in the Mist, most of them can barely sleep. Dances on Stumps reflexively creates a zone free of the Miasma while the party tries to rest. During second watch, however, forms begin to coalesce in the mist and attack! Mist minotaurs and kobolds tried to pull the heroes into the mist, but were fought off valiantly.

A mysterious campsite

Later that day

The party breaks camp in the morning, and continues their travel. After most of the day, they come across a haphazard campsite. A dented cooking pot sits beside a lazily doused campfire, alongside empty bottles strewn on the ground. Inside a nearby cave, the party finds a gruesome scene. The stench of death is strong in this place, as a pile of dissected baboons lie in the back of the cave. Several bodies are decapitated and three near the top have a second head sewn on. Carved into the back wall of the cave are several runes and figures - one of which looks like a crude humanoid with two heads.

An Unexpected Arrival

As dusk approaches

The trees begin to thin as the party continues to the north, and within an hour of leaving the campsite, a guard structure emerges from between the trees. This guard tower is situated at the edge of a grand ravine. And situated within this ravine is an impressive lattice of catwalks and wooden platforms - the village of Brevin's Gap.

They are met with suspicion, surprise, and caution by the Bastions at this guard tower, including a thin and soft-spoken woman named Charis. They are escorted to the main trading post at the center of town and met Domoth Brevin, the leader of this settlement. On the way, Relic noticed that the guards (Bastions) all wielded well-crafted iron weapons. After a brief conversation with Brevin (during which the party revealed several pieces of information about Lookout's Landing), the party is escorted to an empty tenement building by Charis and another guard named Maeral (a hauty elf). Brevin planned for a welcome party tonight, and to declare the next day an impromptu festival in celebration of this great day.
