You are looking at the face of a middle aged man, who gives you a warm and proud smile. He is sitting on a bench in a large field, golden sunlight shining on the swaying grass. Behind stands a great cathedral, made of a light colored stone with great stained glass windows. Everyone is paying attention to the front of the ceremony.
You turn to look toward the front, and see a line of young men and women in gold and white uniforms, each holding a golden helmet at their side. A woman in full uniform stands in front of the line. "Many of our brightest youth selflessly offer their talents and hearts to the service of our great nation. In this time of great turmoil, it is easy to lose sight of our future…"
…"Look behind me, people of Aundaire! This is our future, and it is bright!" Your vision mists for a moment as you wipe your eyes and focus on one of the young men standing in the line. She continues, "These courageous men and women have taken up arms for the betterment of our nation. And more than that, they have shown incredible resolve and selflessness, and today, I am proud to induct them into the great Golden Cavalry of Aundaire!"
As the woman gestures to the line behind her, great cries come from the sky as a flock of great beasts spin toward the crowd. 12 griffons land on the field, making a practiced line to the side of the ceremony, and standing at attention. One by one the officiant calls the names of the people in line, placing a pin on their uniform and letting them take their place beside one of the great beasts.
As she comes to the young man you were looking at before, you once more wipe tears from your eyes and look at the man beside you, who has tears in his own eyes as he takes your hand and squeezes, smiling proudly. "Louis Chagnon, take your place beside your partner, Lise!" The woman cries. You look back to see Louis receiving his pin and taking his place beside a great white and gold griffon.
