Castrovel Lashunta Time and Calendar

A Castrovelian Standard Year is 182 days, almost half of Golarion’s year. Castrovel’s Solar Year is 182.64 days. To balance days against years over time, the following calendar system is developed:
  • A Long Year of 183 days occurs each other year
  • A Leap Year of 184 days occurs every five years
  • A Superleap Year of 185 years occurs every 25 years
The year starts at the Winter Solstice, as calculated at the Hall of Stars upon Ta-Shestaru and announced in advance to the cities of the Yaro Valley. However, due to rural lack of access to this information, many traditional Lashunta settlements start the new year by the beginning of Heaventide, the first clear-sky day, which typically happens on or after the first day of the month of Asealae. All months have 18 days. Year’s End (Motorae) is an intercalary period and not part of any month. It may run from two to five days, depending on the year.   The Months:
  1. Koelae (Winter Solstice on 1st)
  2. Afaelae -
  3. Vealae - Floodtide Begins (Spring Equinox on 9th or 10th)
  4. Vinelae
  5. Soelae - Blighttide begins
  6. Zielae (Summer Solstice on 1st or 2nd)
  7. Ashelae
  8. Evelae - Stormtide begins (Fall Equinox on 10th or 11th)
  9. Shenelae
  10. Asealae - Heaventide begins (followed by intercalary Motarae)
