The Sea of Snow is a calm body of water that boasts persistent snowfall and occasional blizzards. Due to the comparatively inhospitable nature of the Sea of Snow, ships capable of navigating the Dragon's Tail chose to use this as their primary means of maritime navigation in the north of Frostlund to include transit to and from Orne.
