Stonesthrow

Stonesthrow is a settlement in Alexi that acts as a base of operations for the Crystal Traders in Alexi and is one of the primary sources for crystals in the region. It sits atop a large river that many Crystaliers use to carry large geodes and other supplies from further north.

The name Stonesthrow comes from both the habit that Crystaliers have of tossing shards of crystal into the river for luck and the fact that it is close to several crystal rich areas that provide a steady supply. To this day, the people of the town believe that the shards of crystal that go into the river eventually grow into bigger crystals themselves and that is why there is such a steady supply around the town.

Most of Stonesthrow has been settled by Crystaliers, their families, and those merchants smart enough to know that they will always have a steady supply of sales from any goods that the Crystaliers can use in their search. Only the most influential Crystaliers can get a post here, unless their family settled here in a previous generation. It is considered the most steady supply of crystals and therefore, payment, in all of Ismena and a highly desired location to work.

The largest building in the town is the headquarters of the Crystal Traders and is where the crystal supply is examined and sent on to local suppliers in each of the surrounding towns and cities. Unlike other settlements, as this is a regional headquarters, there is even a trained guard unit on duty at all times to travel with Trade Masters and Traders as they move supplies to their home location. The shipments are handled by the Traders themselves, but the guards are there to ensure safe travels and that the shipment makes it to its destination in one piece.
