Dracha

Dracha are a small, draconic race that Dragon Riders use as a means of sending small items and messages across great distances. They can be found in flocks on the Floating Islands and wherever Dragons live in the Southern Lands.

Basic Information

Anatomy

To those unfamiliar with the Dracha, they could be mistaken for miniature Dragons. They are about the size of a newborn dracling, but are always born with a single pair of wings and four legs, where some Dragons's anatomy will vary. Their tails stretch out nearly the length of their bodies with small spikes that run down to the end. Their bodies are covered in scales, colored according to their elemental type.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The Dracha primarily make their home in the Southern Lands, as they have a symbiotic relationship with dragons. However, they mainly live on the floating islands, so a number of them have traveled all over Casimira. In other parts of the world, they are seen as a curiosity and eggs are considered a highly sought after black market item.

Average Intelligence

Dracha are considered highly intelligent, but not sentient. They learn commands quickly and are valuable for their ability to remember people and places.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

Dracha have a symbiotic relationship with dragons. They flock around their much larger cousins and help keep their scales clean of parasites and irritants and in exchange, the dragons allow the dracha to lay their eggs among their nests. The warmth of the nests allow the eggs to incubate and hatch without the need for the parents to stay with them.

This relationship is particularly important to Fauna dragons, who will often keep a few eggs for their own draclings to raise in a coming of age ritual.
