Samantha was born into a privileged family, she married Lord Hyde Weston and together they got a daughter Sara. 
Sara married the son of a factory owner, in other words new money. But Samantha knew Jason Gleeson was a good man for her daughter and was really sad when he died. 
When she heard her grandson that was named after her husband was in hospital after losing his arm she stepped in, preventing that he would be sent off to the mines. Now her daughter and her two sons; Hyde Gleeson & Jack Gleeson,  are living with Samantha and her husband.
