City on Edge
General Summary
Having separated themselves from the guards and finding the hidden entrance to a cavern under a well, the party discussed their next move amongst themselves and with Torva.
Torva had a partially translated message that showed General Roki's Advisor, Kaelen, has been working with the Volskra though likely without Roki being fully aware. Besella, with her knowledge of the Oiled Hand and their ciphers, finished translating the message and found an unsettling revelation: the Volskra had a military force approaching that would arrive in a little over a week. With renewed urgency, the party looked for ways to wrest hold of the city from the military occupation, even better if it led the military to help in the upcoming attack. Gourm and Bhenhi spoke with Torva about Roki, finding that while he was a man of ambition; if they could convince him that it would be best for his future and career to turn against the Volskra, then he may swap sides. Additionally, the second in command was less thrilled with the decisions of the military and would likely be more amenable to changing course. Unfortunately, Kaelen was deeply entrenched in the Volskra and would attempt to keep Roki swayed towards his current actions. Caldwell Weatherbey found himself siding with a tiefling Gael who appeared to have a sentiment of avoiding both combat and the city with the encroaching force so close to bear, even with Torva's warning that the trading post would not be the last victim.
Stela, meanwhile, took the momentary distraction of upcoming combat to speak with their ashamed companion, Arthus. After some prodding, they were able to find the source of his concerns, but their reaction to his words only seemed to cause more tension between the two, palpable enough to be felt in the air amongst the party.
