Scourging

Disaster(s) that literally wiped Shyulith and Gulfry off the map.
Due to the excessive concentration of Charm, too much strain was applied to the lamina of our existence, and tore a hole. The energy released left a deep crater behind and scoured the surface beyond the horizon around each city, blackening the land. The Scour surrounding the Shyulith crater has receded, but is still nearly a day's walk across. Not that anyone has tried walking across it. At the Fringes, where life is reclaiming the land, the plants are strangely misshapen and sickly.
Little is left of the island that was Gulfry. Much of the rim of the crater still protrudes above the ocean, but water has reclaimed most of what used to be dry land. Continual washing of oceanic currents have helped to return much of the underwater seascape in the area to normal. The slopes of the crater proper are still largely devoid of life, however, and there is a large swath downstream, where the toxicity has been washed to, that is equivalent to Shyulith's fringes.
