Varcheg

Varcheg is said to be "far-flung" in the Vaegir tongue. The city sits at the end of a mountainous and desolate peninsula, making accessing it by land long and arduous. Most travelers will visit Varcheg by sea. It is a naval base for the Tsardom of the Vaegirs, and a well protected and placed trading hub for trade with the Swadians or Battanians (when not at war of course). 
The city also has access to mineral deposits from the nearby mountains and, since they are not often at risk of attack due to their geographic location, has some of the most renowned jewelers, silversmiths, and goldsmiths on the continent. The city essentially turned their smithies to the production of luxury goods, rather than war.
Do not mistake this trend for weakness though, a significant amount of taxes are gained by these craftsmen, and these taxes often go towards funding armies, or hiring Swadian mercenaries.
