The Razor's Edge Mountains
the Razor's Edge Mountains are a long mountain range that runs along much of the Northern edge of the continent of Calradia. Their name comes from the literal sharpness of the mountain peaks, and their appearance. It is said that a person could be dropped atop one of these mountain peaks, and be literally split in two by the mountain itself.
These mountains are covered in a layer of snow all year round, and are generally inhospitable for civilized life. Explorers will still venture into them, in search of rare and valuable gems or ores in the furthest mountains, as well as to hunt exotic monsters not seen in centuries. The beasts of the mountains are notorius for being large and dangerous, sometimes descending into the lands of the Tsardom of the Vaegirs, to menace towns and villages. However, many believe that they truly exist to hide great riches that can be found under the mountains, but no mining venture has survived long enough to determine the validity of this claim.
There are a few barbarian tribes that make their homes in the caves of the mountains, but they are rarely seen or contacted. they occasionally also descend to raid Vaegir villages, but rarely succeed at more than temporary victories, as many Vaegirs hunt these tribals for sport, to hone their skills before travelling South to raid.
The Range presents a clear geographic barrier to invasion from the North, and was once a part of the imperial strategy to defend their Northern lands. Now, the Vaegirs use this same knowledge to defend their own new holdings from their kinsmen who remained in the North, and would gladly usurp them given the opportunity.
