River Saihmara

the River Saihmara bisects the Southern deserts between the The Aserai Confederacy and The Southern Calradian Empire. The river's waters flow from an unknown source in the Southern badlands, an expanse of desert that extends beyond where civilized men dwell. 
The waters of this river fuel an areas of fertile flood plains along it's banks, creating a space ideal for growing large amounts of grains in what would otherwise be an inhospitable wasteland. Folk legends state that spirits within the water imbue it with nourishing properties, making the crops grow larger and faster, but only if satiated with sacrifices by the locals. It is because of this belief that many locals make sacrifices to the river throughout the year, especially farmers looking to maintain their crops, and avoid floods.
