Claymore Mushrooms
Claymore Mushrooms were named after their discoverer, Archibald Claymore. Mr. Claymore lost his entire family to these insidious fungi, after their trek into a cave to take shelter from a storm ended in disaster. claymore then spent the rest of his life dedicated to studying and educating about these dangerous plants.
Claymore mushrooms draw in minerals and energies from the soil and rocks around them. However, they continue to do so throughout their lifespan, even after reaching their largest size at maturity, about 8 Cm wide and 2-4 Cm tall. Thus, when touched too roughly (stepping on them being the most common trigger) they explode violently. Depending on the age of the mushroom, this could be anything from a surprising pop, to a concussive force large enough to bring down buildings.
Luckily Claymore mushrooms are fairly rare, but are commonly found near veins of Sun-Steel, as they draw significant nutrients from the metal. They can also be found in caves and other moist dark places all across Calradia.
When stepped on, or otherwise struck with any force (causing 1hp of damage for instance) they will explode. Damage ranges from 1d4-3d12 of Force damage depending on the particular mushroom at random.
