Car Banseth

Car Banseth sits high on the cliffs of Ailta Druin. Staring north on a clear day, across mountainous peaks that were once Battanian but are now traversed and fought over by the Vaegirs and Swadians, one can see the waters of the Bay of Varcheg. It is said that those who keep faith will one day witness from this high point the ships of the vanished High King Mon, who shall return to deliver his people from their enemies. But today, one is far more likely to see the sails of Nordic adventurers and mercenaries, coming to assist the foreigners in their relentless push into Battanian lands, or on their way to raid yet another coastal village.    Car Banseth follows in the Battanian tradition of building their cities in extremely defensible positions, at the expense of being far from good resources. Car Banseth is vulnerable from raiding attacks from the North, and so was built on the side of a cliff, making it almost impossible to attack. However, this has significantly reduced it's max size, and as the years go by the city gets increasingly crowded. Dwarven miners continuously dig further into the mountain to make space for all, but for every new home, there is always another family looking for shelter.    Car Banseth acts as The Battanian Confederacy's main military base in the North, and from here there are many warbands that fight skirmishes with Swadian and Vaegir raiders, protecting the villages to the South that provide the city with it's food and resource production. So far, though the coasts to the North of the city have been lost to the Battanians, Car Banseth has stood as a blocker to any force that would try and defile the Wyldwood in the North.
