Askar
Askar dominates the middle stretches of the River Saihmara, as it weaves between the bluffs of the Jarjara Escarpment. This region has been thickly populated for thousands of years, but the river is restless, and every few centuries leaps its banks and erases what comes before, reducing the city to begin again. This latest regional capital was an imperial encampment during their furthest penetration of the Nahasa Desert several centuries ago, taken over by the Aserai tribes after the legions withdrew.
The economy is largely fueled by shipping agricultural produce to Sanala for resale elsewhere. As with all areas along the River Saihmara the local populace is very well fed with grain.
In addition, many of the nomadic tribes of the Southern Nahasa Desert stop here to rest, trade in their goods, and resupply. Due to this, Askar is the source of many luxury, specialty, and craft goods produced by the desert nomads. These goods include desert warhorses, silken embroideries, Incense, and superb light Armors.
