Amprela
Amprela was the foremost town of the far northeast of the Empire, but has since been taken by Vaegir raiders, as the garrison had been reduced to join in wars elsewhere. Still, Vaegir watchmen stand atop its towers, looking out for signs to the sorth, east and west that might signal the approach of armies. Horse archers recruited from the rough Eleftheroi freemen drink in the barracks, waiting for the order to ride out against horsemen from the steppe, or to depart on a raid. Berserkers sally through its gates to vie with the Eastern Imperials for control of the trade crossing the nearby network of lakes leading East.
