Mercia
Defining Characteristics
Physical
Mercia occupies the entirety of the south-western peninsula of the continent although some prefer to think of it as having a broad southern “mainland” linked to rest of the continent by a very long isthmus.
Social
Mercia is the least populous of the Six Provinces, with most of that population living in the southern mainland region. This, by circumstance rather than intent, has made Mercia one of the more insular and independent minded of the provinces.
Although none of the off-continent settlements fall under the jurisdiction of any province, there is no doubt that Mercia tends to be the most invested of the six in the outposts on the southern continent and, consequently, in the seafaring necessary to maintain contact with them.
