Running Errands

Equipped with the containers that the Faba Myrna supplied them with along with directions on how to gather the ingredients for the ointment that allows for traversing the planes, the adventurers set out. They decide on gathering the oil from the body of a Bagiennik first, as this creature is said to roam the nearby swamps. After discovering tracks of a large creature and following its trail for a while, the party comes across the Bagiennik. A short fight ensues and the heroes slay the territorial creature and collect the oil from its body, of which there is ample supply.   Next, the party undertakes the collecting of some cavelight moss and possibly a small slab of slate which might be found in the same caves as the moss. After travelling for a few hours the adventurers come to the small mountain range indicated by the Faba Myrna, where there possibly is some cavelight moss to be found. Finding a cave the party enters and finds not only the cavelight moss but also some slate, which they are able to both gather. As the day is nearing its end and the adventurers do not want or need to travel by night, the party breaks camp. Setting out again in the morning the party travels east to a forest lake to gather the last ingredient, a large sweet water mussel. After travelling for the majority of the day, the adventurers come upon a beautiful lake, its clear water glittering in the afternoon sun. It is a lovely sight to behold indeed and the adventurers take a short rest on the picturesque shores of the forest lake. Enna, the Ranger, has the idea to enlist a friendly aquatic creature to gather the mussel for them. Looking around there is abundant wildlife to recruit to their cause and Enna spots a beaver working on its dam nearby. After a short, and admittedly terribly cute, conversation between the two, the beaver seems to understand Enna’s intentions and sets out to dive for and gather a sweet water mussel.   But after a few short minutes a couple of bald, green heads with large lidless eyes disturb the surface of the water of the lake and begin to stalk towards the shore. The creatures are Boloti, aquatic fey, and they have set an ambush for the adventurers, conspiring with Will’O’Whisps, which beset the party from the rear. But unexpected help arrives in the form of the beaver, emerging from the water and clutching a large mussel: Before the eyes of the party the beaver transforms into a large humanoid form, seven feet tall! It is Vinnoniel, the Firbolg druid, coming to the party’s aid. The combined forces of the heroes are able to defeat the Boloti and Whisps and after the fight Vinnoniel is welcomed to the group. His travels have led him to this forest in search for answers about his past. He is connected to it by an heirloom, which he wears around his neck: A shard of unknown origin, given to him by the fey who raised him after his whole tribe got wiped out in an arcane calamity. This shard acted like a beacon and led Vinnoniel here. Could it be connected to the artifact that the group is looking for in these woods?
