Hag stone

Hag stones or adder stones are held in high esteem by the druid order. Quite bizarre for such a simple thing. For hag stones are little more than just a small stone with a hole in the middle, but to the druids they are worn as distinguishing badges for their belief that they bestow extraordinary virtues upon the bearer. 
Known to them as serpent stone because of its peculiar origin. They say that the serpents egg is formed by a vast number of serpents coiled together in a knot, in this state the secrete siliva and slime until this hard ball is formed with a hole in the middle. When the serpents egg is found it is tossed in the air before being caught in a cloth before hitting the ground. Then the person who has caught it must take to flight and run until they cross water to escape the serpents. 
Although we cannot know the truth of the matter it is true that these objects are a rare natural thing. They are so highly coveted that folk have been known to murder each other to acquire one. For it is thought that they bestow such luck on the bearer that they are worn around the neck in times of trial by law. Others claim to see visions of the future by looking through the oculus of the hag stone, wherein scenes that have not yet come to pass are witnessed only by the owner of the stone and no other.
