The Horsemasters of Sancre
The Royal House of Laclayette is one of the six ancient houses of Albion and rulers of the lands of Sancre, west of the Muse river and north of the Trident. Of all the major houses, the one of Laclayette is the chief believer in a culture that revolves around the ideals of nobility, social birthright, and a strict code of chivalry, which they have tirelessley enforced over the generations.
The founder of the house was one of the major leaders that followed Arran across the Alvus Sea toward Albion; Gilles Laclayette, his tribed famed for possessing the best horsemen in all of Eridas. He and his sons continued the same tradition in the newly settled lands, and to this day there are no finer steeds to be had in all of Albion than those from Sancere.
The Laclayettes rule over the realm of Sancre from the city that bears the same name, the City of Sancre, one of the largest and most opulent capitals on the entire continent. At the figurative and literal top of the city rests the Gryphon's Nest, the high tower of the king and seat of the noble house. It is also home to his bodyguard of griffin knights: the Bronzeflight, long split brothers of the Blackwing Paragons.
The current incumbent of both the house and the realm is Henry "The Boy King" of house Laclayette, ruler of Sancre, the Golden Fields and the Avondale Coast, fourth of his name. Having been orphaned at the age of six, Henry was thrust into a position of power he understands little of, and a council led by Steward John Paul II has taken temporary command of affairs until he comes of age.
