The Royal House of Boudewijn

The Heirs of Arran

The Royal House of Boudewijn is one of the six ancient houses of Albion and rulers of Aumont (formerly East Aumont), east of the Muse river, north of the Free Cities and west of the Black Forest. The Boudewijn kin are peerless tacticians, all graduating from the Grand Imperial College over many generations. Their belief in meritocracy has shaped their lands in advantageous ways, but has often resulted in a maze of bureaucracy at the same time. The Invictus Legion have sworn themselves to house Boudewijn since the fall of the Empire.   The forefather of the house was one Odo Boudewijn, leader of a small number of fortress towns on Eridas who joined Emperor Arran on his journey across the Alvus Sea. True to their ancient ways, the Boudewijn house constructed the largest fortress city in all of Albion; impenetrable Kronburg. As proof of their engineering, Kronburg has never lost a siege in the nearly two thousand years of its existence, save for the Betrayal of the Paragon, when a traitor lifted its gates in 98AE.   From this fortress city the Boudewijn's have ruled the realms of East Aumont, simply Aumont, for centuries. The late King Charles III left no heirs behind before he was assassinated, and as such it is believed the male line of house Boudewijn to be extinct. Only a lost son or bastard that is to be naturalised in the Basilica of Danu could revive the line.
