Companion Cavalry
The Companion Cavalry was formed as an elite cavalry unit under Gilles Laclayette, one of the most prominent leaders that followed Arran across the Alvus Sea toward Albion. Gilles' tribe was famous for possessing the best horsemen in all of Eridas. He and his sons continued the same tradition in the newly settled lands, and to this day there are no finer steeds to be had in all of Albion than those of the Companion Cavalry of Sancre. The Companion Cavalry are regarded as the first shock cavalry used on Albion.

Equipment
Companion cavalry ride the best horses, and receive the best weaponry available to Sancre's military. In Arran's day, each rider carried a long thrusting spear, and wore a bronze muscle cuirass, shoulder guards and helmets, but bore no shield. A curved slashing sword or cut and thrust sword was also carried for close combat, should the spear be lost or broken. Today the riders wear full plate armour and are equipped lances which rest attached to the breastplate of the rider. This allows the rider the ability to carry a shield. The mounted warriors are also armed with a short sword and dirk for close combat.
