The Sword of Hope Myth in Calandyrion - The Great Conjunction | World Anvil

The Sword of Hope

I want to thank Judges Guild and in particular Dave Kmigh for the material in "The Sword of Hope" which was used to create this plot line for Calandyrion.

Created, of the purest mithril, in a joint venture by a talented Dwarven smithy who forged the blade and then Elven and Human Mages blessed it. The sword appears as any plain, if plain can be used to describe it, mithril weapon and it bears no mark to identify who had forged it which in itself is unusual given the craftsmanship of the sword.

The sword was forged to honor Meloen Elna, the Elven Queen. When the dwarf finished forging the weapon powerful mages cast their magic into the blade imbuing it with strength, might, light and speech. As they finished and prepared to travel to the Queen’s domain a final mage appeared and asked if he could add his blessing to the sword. Permission was granted and the mage bent to the sword and uttered a single unheard word. The mage rose from the blade and announced now it is complete. When asked, the mage indicated that he imbued the sword with hope and named it Meloen. The sword is now complete it is now life.

The Elven King, Rhys Elna, was heartbroken at the loss of his wife and the Sword of Hope. The sword disappeared on the Sivil Plain that day as well. To this day his sits upon his throne in the Kybian Forest in mourning and has not set food outside his domain even once since the loss of his queen.

The story tells of the battle on the Plains of the Sivil during which Meloen Elna, Queen of the Elves who wielded the Sword of Hope. Parted this world as the battle ended tragically for it could be seen that at the last second Meloen lowered her weapon and as the Sword of the Sightless Eyes struck her body a bright radiant light flashed and Manahath’s sword was sundered into 1,000 pieces.
